Story
It is a privilege to be Mayor of Camden, a Borough of Sanctuary where all are welcomed and where we share a proud tradition of diversity and inclusion. In Camden we actively tackle injustice and inequality and work to create safe strong communities for everyone.
During my Mayoral year I will champion the fight to end violence against women and girls and raise awareness of the work we are doing in Camden to challenge discrimination and misogyny wherever it occurs.
Women at the Well is my chosen Charity of the Year during my Mayoral term, and I am proud to support the vital work they have been delivering in Camden for almost 20 years.
Based in King’s Cross, Women at the Well provides a women’s centre and outreach service for women whose lives have been affected by sexual exploitation, homelessness, trauma and multiple disadvantage. Through their appointment and drop-in services, women can access hot food, showers, laundry facilities, practical support, and long-term one-to-one support and advocacy.
Many of the women supported by Women at the Well have experienced violence, abuse, poor mental health, addiction, insecure housing, and profound isolation. Their specialist team works alongside women, helping them rebuild safety, confidence, dignity and hope.
During my Mayoral year, I want to raise awareness of the valuable work Women at the Well are doing. I want Camden to be a place where women and girls feel safe and know where to go for support and advice.
Every donation, large or small, helps Women at the Well change lives. Your generosity will help women access safety, stability, and a pathway towards recovery and independence.
Thank you for your support,
Cllr Patricia Leman, Mayor of Camden 2026–2027
