Campaign by Conwy Mind

Mayor of Llandudno, Antony Bertola is taking on a second charity swimathon! A passionate and dedicated member of the Conwy community and currently serving Llandudno as the town Mayor, Antony is hoping to beat his fundraising total of 2024!

Closes 22/05/2026

1 out of 4 people will experience a mental health issue this year. We are Conwy Mind, a community mental health charity. We're here to make sure anyone with a mental health or emotional issue has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Without mental health, there is no health

Story

I have been motivated to take part in this swimathon to not only raise money and awareness for Conwy Mind and the Citizens Advice Bureau , but to also raise awareness of how commonplace mental health issues are in our community and across the UK.

My son was very close to his brother-in-law, Beck and was devastated when Beck became depressed and tragically took his life, aged just 19. His loss has had a profound effect not only on his family and ours, but on his friends and the local community.

Sadly, young male suicide has become all too common throughout the UK including North Wales. I hope that by talking about this issue more, we can help people to realise that in their darkest moments their communities and services like Conwy Mind are always there to support them with emergency advice and crisis resources.
