Marie Curie Fundraising Group Dorchester & Weymouth are a local community group dedicated to raising money and awareness of Marie Curie.
The Dorchester & Weymouth Fundraising Group was set up by our founder, Richard, who had first volunteered to collect at a local garden centre in the Autumn of 2014. This was after learning about the work of Marie Curie nurses in Dorset. Whilst volunteering, Richard received so many comments of admiration for Marie Curie and so then decided to help start a group in Dorchester. Together with a few others who had expressed interest, the Group started that November. Within a few years, we had raised over £100,000.
Since 2011, Marie Curie has set up Fundraising Groups across the UK to help raise money and awareness for the charity in their local area. They are a vital part of the Marie Curie family, raising a fantastic amount each year to help ensure we can keep supporting people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones. This is through our wide range of services including hospices, nursing, Information and Support services and research.
