MCMC Annual Bike Ride 2022 on Sunday June 12th

This event is raising funds for our complementary therapy service. Evidence shows that complementary therapies can make a real difference to the side effects of treatment, and relaxation can have a positive impact on a persons journey through cancer

Story

We are delighted to be teaming up with the Rotary Club of Reading Matins Charity again to be running this fantastic event. People will either do a 5k off-road route or the more challenging 30k circular route from Thames Valley Park.

We are inspired by Ted Allaway, pictured below, who is getting back on his bike for the first time in over 50 years to take part. But its not just for fitness. Or for fun. Ted is doing it for his wife Margaret, who he lost to cancer last December after 52 years together.

Ted decided to take on the MCMC Annual Bike Ride and cycle 5k in memory of Margaret and all the friends and family he has lost to cancer over the years. The ride will raise money for My Cancer My Choices so that we can continue to help people with cancer with their physical and mental wellbeing. We are hugely grateful to Ted and his son Steve (who will be doing the 30k ride) for choosing to support us this year.

I want to raise money for a small, local charity that is close to home and helps people with cancer

Cancer affects the body, mind and spirit, so we passionately believe everyone with cancer should have access, from diagnosis, to complementary therapies, such as acupuncture, reflexology and mindfulness, that enhance their wellbeing and keep them in control of their journey.
