The Mead Road Marathon is back for another year of amazing fundraising to support The Friends of Mead Road School. On Tuesday 14th June we will be setting up a 200m circuit on the field, encouraging the children in their year groups to run as many circuits as possible. We will record how many laps each child does and then calculate the cumulative distance the school has run. If each child runs an average of 2 laps, we should run at least one marathon, if not more!!!

The last marathon was hugely successful with the children actually running the equivalent of 6 marathons with a combined total of 162 miles and raising £4700, which was split equally between the FMRS and Demelza Hospice Care for Children. This money helped fund the FMRS's ability to be able to support the school in lots of great ways and it helped cover the cost of 3 months worth of delicious meals for a family of four staying at one of Demelzas' specialist hospices.

We would be thrilled to raise the same this year to allow the FMRS to support the school with their dream of creating a wonderful sensory room.

We are hoping that the children can secure individual sponsorship from family and friends etc. If each child can raise just £20, we could raise significant funds for our cause. There will be prizes for the child running the longest distance in each class plus a prize for the highest fundraiser overall. We will provide more details on all of this shortly!
