Please Help us to Give Peace of Mind
This Christmas, we are appealing for your donations for equipment and technologies which help to reduce the risks of injury and risk to life posed by complex epilepsy. Your gift could provide peace of mind to some of the most vulnerable people in society, and the people who care for them.
The Meath Peace of Mind at Christmas Appeal is funding vital equipment and upgrades to internal safety systems, including fire safety, carer on-call alarms, CCTV and air conditioning, ensuring the best possible care for future generations.
Despite support for managing their complex epilepsy, Meath residents experience over 11,000 seizures annually, facing risks such as Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), falls, choking and suffocation. The Meath's dedicated team works tirelessly, around the clock to protect our 80 residents from these dangers, and your support can make a genuine difference.
This Christmas, your generosity could fund:
£20 Essential oils for a course of complementary therapy
£40 Anti-suffocation pillow
£80 Defibrillator training
£120 First aid bleed control kit
£180 Crash mat
£224 Bed alarms
£249 Embrace2 seizure sensor
£525 Alert-It Pulse seizure monitor (ideal for nocturnal seizures)
Sadly, complex epilepsy poses some serious risks to life. Our dedicated team work hard to mitigate against these risks, to help keep the people we support as safe as possible.
The staff team take care of his medication, which is very complex, and due to the risks posed by Nathan’s seizures, he is monitored in a non-intrusive way, sometimes with night checks as often as every 15 minutes. If you are able to donate, please know that you will be helping to give Meath residents, including my son Nathan, peace of mind this Christmas." Kelly, Mother to Nathan, Meath Resident
Our daughter Tamara has tonic clonic seizures and experiences them at night. Unfortunately, she is at high risk of SUDEP. She has lived at The Meath for over two years and the around the clock care and support that she receives enables us to feel reassured that she is as safe as possible. Tamara has night time checks every 30 minutes and the knowledgeable staff team, audio monitoring system, combined with the carer on call system are vital safety measures for her wellbeing.” Sharon, Mother to Tamara, Meath Resident.
Our Peace of Mind Christmas Appeal will help to safeguard against these risks.
