Organised by Moving MountainsMercy was one of the original children to grow up at Ulamba Children's Home, developing in to a beautiful, caring person that the other kids at Ulamba looked up to. She will be sorely missed by everyone that met her and leaves behind two daughters.

Visit the charity's profileMercy Okinyo, or Mercy Benson as she became known to close friends and family, passed away on the morning of the 12th June 2019 after an emergency C-section at Siaya District Hospital in Western Kenya.
She leaves behind two beautiful daughters, Ernestine Lyrouze and her new-born baby, Erney Peniel. Our thoughts are with her family and in particular her husband Benson Okinyo and their two children.
Mercy was a remarkable young woman that lived her short life to the full, excelling in everything that she put her mind to, from her studies (recently graduating in social work) to sport and a passion for the outdoors. She summited Kilimanjaro in September last year with an Adventure Alternative team and worked on many of our youth expeditions in East Africa over the years.
Staff and friends of Moving Mountains and Adventure Alternative in East Africa have already donated towards the funeral costs on the 28th June, this fundraising page is specifically for the support and welfare of her children.
Sleep easy Mercy, you'll always be in our thoughts and touched the hearts of so many people in Kenya and visitors that had the fortune of meeting you.
