Standing at Warsaw train station I watched as families streamed into the city looking for refuge and direction. We dropped off 3 cars full of bottled water, bananas and cereal bars, rucksacks, hats and gloves - mums moved in to grab fresh underwear, clothes for babys, hats, sanitary towels... cut to a couple of hours later, cars refilled and a repeated journey for a different destination - the XPO centre home now to 16,000 displaced Ukrainians huge containters lay in the storeroom waiting to be filled - it felt like a drop in the ocean but then they say the ocean is made up of drops.
One of the best things we were able to do is get to know 9 wonderful ladies and their children currently living in Poland. We are hoping to be able to support them with food and essentials until they are able to get something more permanent and this may take some time.
