🏃♀️ Love in Action: Jackie’s Marathon for Children 🏝️
On 14 December 2025, our incredible CEO, Jackie Waters-Dewhurst, will be lacing up her trainers in Honolulu, Hawaii, to take on her first ever marathon — at the age of 62!
Jackie is running to raise vital funds for the Love As Action – Together Fund, a transformative initiative by LAAT that helps remove financial barriers to learning for children across our schools. From providing essentials to enabling full participation in school life, the fund is already making a meaningful difference — and Jackie’s marathon is set to amplify that impact.
What makes this challenge truly remarkable is Jackie’s personal journey. In her own words, she “never even ran as a child, hated PE, and only took up running briefly 10 years ago before quickly giving it up.” Now, she’s embracing the Jeffing method — a structured run/walk approach — to make this endurance feat achievable.
The Honolulu Marathon is one of the few in the world with no cut-off time, welcoming every participant to finish at their own pace. This ethos of inclusion and equity mirrors LAAT’s core values — and the stunning views from the volcanic course are a bonus!
Importantly, every penny raised will go directly to the Love As Action – Together Fund. Jackie’s journey is not just about the miles — it’s about showing love in action and ensuring every child has the chance to thrive.
Let’s cheer Jackie on and help her make a lasting difference. 💙
