Missing People Helpline Team

Organised by Missing People

Missing People provides a vital free 24/7 service for people facing the worst moment in their lives. Their lives have just got harder and the need for support has never been greater. Please help us by donating.

Someone is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK. Missing People offers a lifeline to the 170,000 people who run away and go missing each year. For those left behind, we provide specialised support to ease the heartache and confusion, and help search for their missing loved ones.

Story

We're the Missing People Helpline Team.

Many other helplines have had to temporarily shutdown due to the coronavirus.

We are determined to not let COVID-19 shutdown the only helpline in the UK that supports thousands of people affected by missing.

We are now hearing from people stranded abroad, and in the UK, who are unable to connect to families and let them know they are safe.

We're working hard to keep our free, confidential Helpline available 24/7 so we can continue to be a #remotelifeline to help anyone affected by a disappearance. Demand is increasing and COVID-19 is having a real impact for lots of the people we support.

People like Taylor, a young runaway who returned to an abusive home following government advice. When she got back, family members threatened to kick her out and Taylor had no credit to call her social worker or anyone else who could help. After reaching our helpline, we were able to support Taylor and connect her on a three-way call to social services so she could be safer in this time of uncertainty.

*****UPDATE*****

Click below to hear from Paul, our Head of Helpline. It's been a big week for the helpline team, we have worked hard to deliver all our support services remotely.

Amy drove nearly 70 miles to deliver handsets to team members this week to keep our helpline open. But we still need your support to keep our remote lifeline running.
