Mission to a Million
This year, I wanted to push myself to take on a challenge that’s a little different and a lot tougher than anything I’ve done before. So in May, my gym buddy Leon and I are going to lift one million kilograms between us in just a week.
This will be achieved through 14 workouts in a week, two workouts a day for 7 days broken down as follows each session –
Deadlifts 125kg – 100 reps (12,500kg)
Chest Press 100kg – 100 reps (10,000kg)
Pull ups with a weighted vest 100kg – 100 reps (10,000kg)
Arms (biceps and triceps) – 3,375kg
Total KG lifted per session = 35,875 kg
Daily total (2 sessions) = 71,750 kg
Per week 14 sessions over 7 days = 502,250 kg
It’s going to be utterly brutal, and the training has been hardcore & relentless but I’m loving it. It is great doing this challenge with Leon and our brilliant PT John, whom we can’t thank enough for his guidance and knowledge.
So as I’m spending hours away in the gym and I know It’s going to be physically and mentally demanding, but I know exactly why I’m doing it.
Recently, I visited the incredible new Ged Mason Building, home to Seashell Royal College Manchester. Seeing first-hand how Seashell supports young adults aged 19–25 with the most complex disabilities genuinely moved me. Their dedication, expertise, and compassion transform lives, helping students build independence, confidence, and meaningful futures.
But Seashell can only continue this vital work with support. Each year, they must raise over £1.7 million to provide the specialist care, equipment, and opportunities that these children and young adults rely on.
That’s why I’m taking on this challenge and with your help, we can make a real difference so please dig deep and sponsor my efforts.
Thanks so much,
Mark
