This April, we’re encouraging all our supporters to help fight mito by hosting a tea and cake event – introducing The Lily Foundation’s Mito Communi-TEA party!
Closes 31/05/2025
Love tea and cake? This April, join The Lily Foundation’s Mito Communi-TEA Party to raise funds and spread the word about mitochondrial disease.
By hosting your own tea party, you’ll be able to enjoy a host of delicious treats whilst bringing people together for a very special cause. Every cup of tea, slice of cake and penny raised will make a difference to patients and families affected by mitochondrial disease.
When and where: choose a date any time during the month of April to hold your event. Where you host it is up to you too! At home, in your workplace or school, even outdoors – the choice is yours.
Who to invite: bring friends, family, colleagues or neighbours together for tea, cake and a chat. Every guest helps raise awareness and contribute to the cause.
Get creative with your Mito Communi-TEA Party:
Traditional tea party: serve dainty sandwiches, fluffy scones and a showstopping Victoria sponge.
Bake-off challenge: host a friendly competition with rosettes for the star bakers and wooden spoons for best efforts.
Crafty tea break: pair tea with pottery painting or crocheting for a cosy crafting session.
Outdoor party: opt for a barbecue with burgers, sausages and cold drinks – perfect if the weather plays ball.
When you sign up, we’ll send you a free fundraising kit filled with:
Balloons, cake toppers, sandwich flags and labels
A recipe for adorable butterfly buns to inspire your baking
Extra recipes like Superb Buns or Banana Bread Loaf, kindly shared by James, adult mito warrior and author of Baking Blind. James is partially sighted due to LHON (a form of mitochondrial disease).
Hosting a Mito Communi-TEA Party isn’t just about tea and cake – it’s about raising awareness of mitochondrial disease and ensuring The Lily Foundation can continue to provide vital support to patients and their families.
