Story

MLSS Community Hub - building healthy bodies and minds

The MLSS Community Hub was opened in 2021 by John Fury. John Fury is an Irish boxing cornerman and former professional boxer and bare-knuckle fighter. He is best known for being the father of two-time heavyweight boxing world champion Tyson Fury, who is also an ambassador for mental health. The Community Hub is located in the MLSS hometown of Walsall in the Midlands.

It contains an all-encompassing state-of-the-art gym, boxing gym, studios for workouts and creative classes, an on-site physiotherapist, social meeting and work spaces, music studio and an on-site café.

It hosts boxing sessions for various member of the community including people with special education needs and developmental (SEND). It also runs various other projects such as talk groups, coffee mornings, breakfast clubs and so much more! These sessions help build confidence, tackle loneliness and to support the local community as much as we can.

The aims of the centre are to help people both physically and mentally. The charity aims to do more than feed the homeless but also to help service users in the long term. The emphasis is wellbeing and tackling mental health issues - especially in this day and age, and building confidence, especially amongst younger people who are suffering from bullying. We want this to be a place for everyone and somewhere where they can come and enjoy a coffee or play a game and come together as a community. (MLSS CEO Randhir Singh)
