Story
Like everyone around the world, we have been horrified with the news from Ukraine. As an international charity providing educational and emotional support to families and young children, we know the impact war is having on the most vulnerable.
We are working with local partners in Croatia to set up an innovative pilot project to support families with children. If successful, our pilot project will be scaled up to cover other countries in the region which are also accepting large numbers of refugees.
Our initial aim is to help 1,000 Ukrainian families in Croatia get back on their feet, helping them live a free and safe future where their children no longer hear the sounds of explosions in the morning and a chance for parents to work in a peaceful country.
Within the initiative, we will work with our network of charities to run projects that:
Create opportunities for sustainable employment for refugees.
Ensure that families have high quality childcare and educational support whilst mothers return to work.
The projects will be implemented alongside two Croatian charities with a strong track record in humanitarian relief and highly-responsive support to women and their families - Solidarna and Roda.
Most of us cannot imagine what it must feel like to be bombed out of our homes and to leave a country where your father, husband or brother are left behind to fight.
Women and their children are likely to be traumatized for a long time to come, many may never fully recover. Our Project aims to give these families the best possible chance to live a normal, safe life and one day the chance to return home if they so wish. Please help us make their future full of hope rather than fear.
