Story
At the start of this year, the school council went on a school council training day at a local secondary school. One of the sessions involved planning an improvement to the school and the children were unanimous in what they wanted to improve: the playground. The playground surface has started to wear and the wooden equipment needs replacing. The PTA agreed to ‘spearhead’ the fundraising for the playground and the Montrose School Playground Fundraiser was born! We have a fundraising target of £30,000, which we think will cover the new equipment and the resurfacing of the playground.
The Equipment
The first phase of the project is replacing some of the existing playground equipment. The climbing wall and wooden trim trail will be removed and replaced with a recycled plastic trim trail involving balance beams, a drop rope traverse, weavers, parallel bars and stepping stones.
The Surface
The second phase of the project is replacing the wet pour surface, which has started to wear over time. This will be done after the installation of the trim trail so that it can be fitted perfectly around the equipment.
