Moria Academia emerged as a response to the lack of learning opportunities for residents of Moria camp on Lesvos. The Academia is run exclusively by and for camp residents, providing various classes such as Greek language and music, responding to the needs and interests of residents.

In October 2020, ODD collaborated with architecture students from Umeå University in Sweden to propose designs for some mobile classrooms, repurposing tour buses to create some much-needed flexible teaching spaces. In April 2021 two buses were completed.

As conditions in the camp remain challenging, and residents become increasingly isolated from services and education, the demand for educational activities continues to grow.

We believe deeply that everyone has a right to education in spaces that uphold their dignity and ensure their wellbeing. Donations to this campaign will support the continuation and expansion of the Academia, to supply necessary teaching materials and ensure the upkeep of the spaces.

This campaign is in collaboration with our local partner Stand By Me Lesvos (: 142228342000) who provide the necessary administration to the Academia project.
