Story
Our lovely Morticia is a senior kitizen who we believe to be around 13 years old and she came in to us here after her previous owner sadly passed away. She has been a much loved companion throughout her last 13 years and so it is understandable that finding herself here with us in a rescue environment may be a little bit overwhelming for her. Despite this, she is coping incredibly well and is always happy to be fussed and have a cuddle.
On arrival to the centre, Morticia was found to have hyperthyroidism. This means that her thyroid gland is over producing hormones and if left untreated, the condition can cause a whole host of symptoms including a rapid heart rate, weight loss, restlessness and poor coat condition.
To help treat her condition, Morticia now has to go on 4 weeks of medication in order to stabilise her thyroid levels and will have another blood test after this point to check that the tablets have worked. If her levels are improved, she will be ready to have a thyroidectomy which involves the removal of the thyroid gland itself. This is a big operation, however going through it means that Morticia will be able to live the rest of her life medication free and will no longer suffer the tricky symptoms that this condition can cause and this is why we really need your help.
Here at Rochdale, we are a self funded branch and so this means that we have to raise all of our own funds in order to cover the costs of medication and vet bills for the residents in our care. Morticia's blood tests, medication and operation are likely to cost well in excess of £1000 and so we are appealing to our loyal supporters to see if we can generate some help towards Morticia's treatment.
Despite being a little older, Morticia has lots of adventures left to have and your donation could be paramount in allowing her to get to the point where she can find a retirement home and live happily ever after.
If you are able to donate any amount to help us, then the team here would be so appreciative. We love every animal that comes through our doors and we really want to ensure that we can give them the best chance at a happy and healthy life.
Thank you.
