Many years ago during the Maoist conflict in Nepal, British mountaineer Gavin Bate met Ang Chhongba Sherpa and they became friends and started Moving Mountains in Nepal. In those dark days there were no schools or monasteries or clinics, and most families had left the region.
Ang and Gavin started rebuilding the region with hydro-electric power plants, schools, monasteries, a clinic and investment in local businesses. Ang's brother in law Geljun helped, and over nearly two decades the region is transformed. Now people move from the city back to the villages because of the quality of life for them and their families.
Moving Mountains has always been about long term commitment and in the villages of Bupsa and Bumburi the charity still provides support for teachers, providing water to households and rebuilding the damage after the earthquake.
The change in this region has been remarkable and with your help we can continue the good work. Thank you.
