To keep the Crags tidy and accessible our Senior Ranger Jim spends 3 to 4 days a week cutting the grass. He currently only has a push mower which is on its last legs (or wheels). If he could have a ride on mower it would take him a quarter of the time, leaving him more time to keep up with the long list of other jobs that keep the site looking beautiful. Furthermore, Jim has health concerns that mean it really isn't great for him to spend hours and hours pushing a mower around, especially in warm weather. He has only one other member of staff in the Conservation Team to help him, and they have 26 acres to look after between them.
We need to raise at least £2000 to buy a ride on mower, but we also need to replace the push mower.
