Fosse Way School caters for 220 children aged 3-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs, specialising in Autism and other social/communication difficulties. Music is a valuable part of school life and we are raising money to fund the Soundbeam 6 Music Technology, which will provide further opportunities for our pupils to develop their musical understanding and communication skills.
We have recently developed our very own school Orchestra, which is an inclusive project for pupils across the school to be part of. It encourages inclusive music making in a safe and supportive environment, for pupils of all abilities. Some pupils are making music with the support of assistive music technology, while others are developing their musical skills by playing instruments such as keyboards, drums and a range of tuned percussion! We hope that the Soundbeam will play in important role in ensuring that our orchestra is as accessible as it can be, with this technology providing access for many more pupils, including those with limited mobility.
Here is a quote from myself as Music Coordinator, regarding the importance of music at Fosse Way and how we aim to provide invaluable opportunities for pupils:
Here are some quotes from members of staff at Fosse Way, who each recognise the positive impact music has on their pupils, specifically our school orchestra:
The Soundbeam is a 'touch free' device which uses sensors to translate body movements into music and sound. It has been used extensively with children with complex learning needs and would hugely benefit our pupils.

I would like to thank you very much for any donation you are able to make, which I know will help to put a smile on many of our young people's faces. Thank you in advance for your generosity - Let's hope we can reach our target!
Many thanks, Becca
