The Charity supports the work of the Amani Centre for People with Disabilities in the Morogoro Region of Tanzania. Our activities involve support of community based rehabilitation, educational development and community infrastructure projects in collaboration with the Amani Centre and partners.

Story

The Amani Centre established a primary school in 2014 at Mvomero, Tanzania for children who are hard of hearing. The school is extremely important for the community as it provides children with additional needs the opportunity of a full education.

In January 2022, the final year students (Standard 7) progressed to secondary education. FOAT is supporting the Amani Centre to create a secondary school extension to cater for these young people.

There are 12 children now attending the Amani Mvomero Secondary School.

Thanks to FOATs fundraising efforts, the first new classroom was built and furnished in 2021, the second new classroom built in early 2022 and by September 2022 funds have been raised to build a dormitory for the secondary school girls. It is expected that construction will begin in October ready for completion in December and occupancy in January 2023.

Amani is in urgent need of a dormitory for the secondary school boys.
