The climatic phenomenon known as La Niña is preventing nourishing rains for the fourth season in a row, putting East Africa on the brink of catastrophe.
As many as 20 million people in four African countries are facing extreme hardship and food shortages as an exceptionally long and severe drought grips the eastern Horn of Africa.
The region is experiencing the longest drought in four decades, as climate change brings a succession of extreme weather events to a part of the world ill-equipped to withstand them.
This Ramadan, please support my Drop of Life for East Africa appeal.
The donations will go to help countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.
For many in East Africa, the current drought is the worst in living memory. We are now in the third year of very low rainfall coupled with high temperatures, which have exhausted peoples ability to cope with drier conditions and scarce and unpredictable rains.
This Ramadan, be a part of my Drop of Life for East Africa Appeal, and help us provide sustainable water solutions to communities in these countries.
