Story
The Myriad Centre provides care and support to some of the most profoundly disabled young people in our County.
With a heavy heart, we sadly had to close the Centre on 23rd March 2020, due to the Coronavirus crisis, for the foreseeable future. We are concerned for our clients, who are some of the most vulnerable in society, as well as their families and carers. We are especially concerned that their mental health will suffer: many of our clients have been coming to the Centre for years, mixing with their peers and seeing their friends every day is invaluable to combat loneliness and isolation.
Not only do our clients take part in mentally stimulating activities at the Centre, but they also undertake physical interventions such as hydrotherapy, rebound and physiotherapy. This is essential in terms of maintaining body posture, flexibility and muscle tone as well as pain reduction. We are concerned that, without these therapies, the physical condition of our clients could deteriorate rapidly which will potentially also make them more vulnerable to the COVid-19 virus.
Please help us to raise our target of £1,500 to enable us to provide an outreach service to support improved mental health and well-being for both clients and their parents and/or carers during the difficult weeks and months ahead.
* £15 would provide an hour of support-at-home for one of our clients
* £30 would cover the costs of providing a minibus and driver to deliver essential supplies to our families
* £50 would help us to pay for essential protective materials for our staff, such as masks, aprons, gloves and wipes
* £100 would enable us to provide an online interactive music session for each of our clients at home
Thank you x
