Story

Update 3 August 2019

Our little man has been named Archie!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and entered our competition. The money raised will go towards the veterinary care and special dietary supplements for Sophia and Archie, to ensure that Mother and Foal have the proper care they need for a healthy life here with us at Flicka.

Thank you so much for your support, from all of us (four-legged and two) at The Flicka Foundation. xx

Original story:

We have a very special new arrival at our sanctuary... Sophia, our newly rescued donkey has given birth to a beautiful, long legged, baby boy and now he needs a name!

Donate a minimum of just £3 to enter, for your chance to name this gorgeous little bundle and win a special Donkey Adoption Package! All the funds raised will go towards specialist care and veterinary costs for Sophia and her baby.

As a sanctuary, we don't breed donkeys for ethical and practical reasons, but, as was the case with Sophia, sometimes donkeys are already in foal when they arrive with us. Poor Sophia arrived with us only last month, incredibly underweight despite being so heavily pregnant. Having been brought to the UK from Europe, we were luckily able to rescue this beautiful donkey before she was traded once more into the continental meat market. It is likely that she was previously used as a breeding Jenny, so we know that she will have had many babies cruelly taken from her over the years. This time will be different though safe at our sanctuary, Mum and baby will be given all the specialised care and attention they need and Sophia will never have to face the tragedy of having her baby taken away from her ever again.

Donate a minimum of just £3 to enter for your chance to name this gorgeous little bundle and win a special donkey adoption package. All funds raised will go towards specialist care and veterinary costs for Sophia and her baby... Don't forget to leave your name, contact details and chosen foal name, along with your donation, so that we can contact you if you win.
