This year we have seen an unprecedented increase in the number of kittens and pregnant cats desperately needing our help. We have always taken in a lot of kittens during the summer months, but the need for help has never been this high before.
We pride ourselves on working with other rescues, councils and individuals to take in as many pregnant stray cats and new born kittens as possible to get them off the streets and out of danger. Without our intervention, these cats and kittens are at risk of health implications, malnutrition, environmental dangers and more complications that could jeopardise their survival. We also care for kittens who are found without their mother, often by the side of a road or at a construction site, and would almost certainly not survive without our critical care.
Thanks to the help of some incredible volunteer foster carers, we have been able to increase our capacity to help these poor animals, but the cost of caring for them still remains high and it is hard to balance these costs with the sheer number of kittens coming through our gates. We always want to do absolutely everything we possibly can to save as many little lives as possible, and we do not want to be forced to turn our backs on these precious, helpless kittens by limiting our intake due to expenses.
So far this year, we have rehomed 44 mum cats and kittens. As of June, we have 47 mums and kittens in our care and 32 more on the waiting list for admission with more calls for help coming in every hour. Please donate to make sure every one of these animals are able to get the safety and care they urgently need and set them up for the long life of happiness they deserve.
