Story
It costs just £21 to feed a child living in the slums and attending Ndeeba Primary School for a whole school year (3 terms)!
THE HISTORY OF THIS CAMPAIGN:
Our work in Uganda has indeed been met with some epic highs and some epic lows, but in Feb 2020, things were looking so promising as we prepared to launch the new vocational project to help women and children gain vocational skills to support the gaps in their educational journey.
The school was thriving and hope was all around.
Then suddenly Covid hit Uganda and like the rest of the world took a battering, one which the world is still recovering from and indeed one which we are too recovering from.
Our projects took a massive hit as did our amazing school Ndeeba Primary School, nestled in the slum area of Ndeeba.
One of the main areas we have always felt so passionate about was ensuring that all the children who attended the school received a good lunch meal as often that may be their only meal of the day.
All of our funding sources have taken a hit following Covid and as a charitable organisation we have created and are committed to a 2 year recovery plan to help get our projects back on their feet and to bring back that hope and joy we had before Covid hit.
We have looked at our projects and the needs of those women and children we support in the Ndeeba Slum area and the one of the greatest needs we have right now is ensuring the kids will eat whilst at school.
Just like the rest of the world, the cost of food has risen dramatically, to a place where right now the income of the school just isn't enough to buy the food needed for 280 children like it used to do.
2024: In 2023 we successfully funded 100% of the food requirements but as we begin to get the school back on its feet and back to supporting itself once more we are now looking to fund 50% of the food for the 2024 school year.
So as we work our way through our 2 year recovery program we are reaching out for support to help us once more feed all 280 children for the coming 2024 school year which starts beginning Feb 2024 of which 50% will equal £3000 for the 3 terms
To give all 280 children a lunch mean this totals £11 per child for the whole school year.
Broken down further this equates to approximately £3.50 per child per term (there are 3 terms) to feed them a school dinner during their time at school from Feb - Nov 2023 with 50% support from us.
Can you help us to ensure that we can give these amazing kids just one meal a day whilst at school this year?
It's just a simple meal, of beans and maize but it's warm, it's nutritious and it could be life changing for the children and their families.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

THE ACDT
It's been 17 years since we started our work in Uganda and our journey really has been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows but our passion to help and 'do our bit' has never wavered. Remember the story of the starfish?
We cannot help everyone, but we can make a difference to so many and its that which drives us forward year after year.
Our mission, to provide an education to children in Uganda, to empower women in Uganda (through business and vocational training) so that they can support their childrens education, support their families and to continue to support children who are at risk of malaria through the provision of life saving mosquito nets and through our dignity project providing re-usable sanitary wear to young girls.
We may be small but our impact is and continues to change and save lives!
