The world needs Padmasambhava. Our city needs Padmasambhava. Our sangha needs Padmasambhava.
For over 50 years the Glasgow Buddhist Centre has offered buddhism, meditation and community to the city of Glasgow. In September, the GBC will be moving to our new home at 2 Woodside Crescent. We hope the new centre will serve our community and the city of Glasgow for decades to come.
Owning our Buddhist Centre will be so much more supportive and inclusive to our activities in many ways. As we stand at the crossroads, it is an exciting time. Our vision is to make the new centre accessible, beautiful and sustainable into the future. To fulfil this vision we are seeking to raise a further £50,000 towards our the project. This fundraiser will allow us to:-
- Install adequate ventilation that complies with regulations
- Fully insulate both the ground floor and the basement walls
- Install new reclaimed wood flooring
- Beautify the building and make it accessible
To complete this work safely and swiftly, our financial goal is £50,000. This will allow us to keep offering the gift of the Buddha's teachings in an accessible and inspiring space.
As well as creating a home for the three jewels in Glasgow, we hope to create a glimmer of Uddiyana. To quote Parami:
Uddiyana was the homeland of Padmasambhava. It was a land of mystery, of power, and of transformation. It was not a place of escape, but a place where the sacred and the wild could meet.
Why is Padmasambhava so relevant? Because he was the Guru who came to Tibet when the land was wild, hostile, and filled with forces that resisted the Dharma. He did not run from the darkness. He faced it. He tamed it. And he transformed those hostile energies into protectors of the path.
