Over the past two years, Crossroads has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt, innovate, and thrive in service of advancing our mission. We have forged strong partnerships, developed new ways of working, maintained financial health, and ensured that our resilient young people have access to powerful growth experiences and joyful community.
In 2022, we are making a commitment to return to full capacity, in-person programming, with a plan to serve 1,780 participants. Given the challenges that young people continue to face, we remain steadfast in our commitment to provide an extraordinary summer and academic year to as many participants as possible.
We aspire to be a national model for overnight summer camp - and this begins with an investment in our team. In additional to fully staffing our three summer camp sites with year-round camp Directors, we have increased our summer counselor salaries by nearly 60% to attract the best talent and ensure that Crossroads remains competitive in a highly constrained labor market.
To be a national model for youth programming, the quality of our curricular content, facilitator skill, and measurement of impact must be superlative. We have spent the past two years refining our curriculum to align with social-emotional outcomes and training our staff to execute well-designed plans. That process will continue in 2022 as we partner with staff from Boston Public Schools, The Harvard Graduate School of Education, charter school educators, and instructional coaches to refine our curriculum, enhance our pedagogical approach, and integrate academic standards into our experiential learning model.
Now is the time to invest more deeply in our young people, to provide them with access to extraordinary opportunities for exploration, growth, and discovery.
