Nigel is the UK's (and maybe even the World's) only three-legged Puma. He stole the hearts of everyone that met him and battled through complex health conditions, bouncing back at each hurdle and becoming of the most loved mascots of our sanctuary.
Arriving at the Park with an eye condition named Exotropia, we knew we had to create a special sensory haven for him. Our supporters helped us raise the funds to build his custom enclosure to give him the most fulfilling life possible. Unfortunately, Nigel's second hurdle came in the form of arthritis in his left shoulder. After many meetings with our vets, the decision was made to perform a life-changing amputation of his leg, as the thought of euthanasia seemed out of the question for such an otherwise healthy, happy cat. What a difference it made, Nigel had his bounce back and adapted to his three-legged life like that's all he had ever been used to!
We knew that his time left with us would be limited and after exhausting all options and a sudden decline in the mobility of his remaining front leg, our veterinary team had to give us the awful decision to euthanize him on Tuesday 24th June 2025.
Please help his memory live on throughout the park by donating to create a special memorial at 'Nigel's', the enclosure initially built especially for him.
