Story
9 St John Street Chambers are extremely proud to have our own charitable fund, Nine Lives. It is a unique and special feature of our Chambers that reflects our proactive and compassionate collective spirit.
Since 2008, Nine Lives has supported local communities, activities, and projects across Greater Manchester. We have a successful long-standing partnership with Forever Manchester, who work with a wide range of community groups across the Greater Manchester area and in the last decade, together we have raised over £100,000 for community projects.
Our Charity of the Year for 2020 is Wood Street Mission. Chambers is delighted to support their incredible work which is a lifeline for many families on low incomes and children experiencing poverty throughout Manchester and Salford.
About Wood Street Mission
Wood Street Mission provide practical support to help meet childrens day to day needs with essentials such as children's clothes, toys, bedding, toiletries and baby equipment. They also work to improve children's life chances, by helping families with the costs of school and running book projects to encourage a love of reading and help improve literacy. Child poverty blights childhoods and severely harms childrens chances in life. All children deserve a childhood free of financial hardship and a fair chance to reach their full potential. Wood Street Mission help thousands of families every year, and all their services are free to access on referral.
About Forever Manchester
Forever Manchester is the only charity that raises money to fund and support community activity across Greater Manchester. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be happy and we'd love you to become part of this growing movement. We work with local people in our communities to inspire and encourage projects that they want to see, to make their neighbourhoods happier and safer places to be.
The Nine Lives Community Fund is administered by Forever Manchester and all funds raised in 2020 will be split equally between Forever Manchester and Wood Street Mission.
