Story
Nohani Goth is home to families that are extremely poor. Due to the lack of a consistent source of income, they are unable to afford the expenses of the most basic needs such as food, clothing, education and even proper shelter. In Sindh, 45.8% of girls are out of school while 32.3% of boys are out of school. In this area, education is too far-fetched and there are no government or private schools. The idea of going to school is trivial for the residents of Nohani Goth. This is mainly because the children from a young age start working in the nearby factories to help out their family in day-to-day expenses. They make socks, pack items in the factories and do other small jobs that would allow them to make a little money. Since it is an industrial area, the prevalence of child labor is drastic.
The majority of the children of Nohani Goth are illiterate and come from families where the parents are daily wage laborers, disabled, drug addicts, beggars, unemployed or elderly. In a number of cases, the children are orphans. Education is a crucial need in this area to enable the children to be self-sufficient in the future.
STAR School Nohani Goth has been a lighthouse for the residents of Nohani Goth. The children who are victims of child labor and are poverty-stricken can get an education while they work hard to make ends meet. The school welcomes 4 girls and 20 boys with open arms to impart education and to make their futures brighter.
