Story

This Commonplace book was likely made around 1560, with handwritten pages on astronomy, geography and history. Such books would have been updated with the latest information of the time, providing the perfect companion to a researcher or traveller. This personal volume belonged to Henry Appleyard of Dunston, Norfolk, and contains a list of all the mayors and sheriffs of Norwich from 1403-1606 perhaps a private research project from a descendant of Norwichs first mayor? This would be an ideal gift to any scholar, scientist or explorer with a thirst for knowledge!
