Please join us in celebrating International Nurses Day today!
International Nurses Day is celebrated on the 12th May every year, bringing appreciation and awareness to the occupation of nursing. This date is significant as it is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, and this years celebration is even more special as 2021 is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife, as it's the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. The goal of International Nurses Day is to recognise the importance of nurses, celebrate and promote the profession, and highlight issues confronting them.
International Nurses Day feels more important than ever in 2021, as we continue finding ourselves affected by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past 14 months, our nursing team and support staff have worked so hard to continue giving compassionate, expert care to local people in the most difficult time we have ever known. Their hard work, commitment and personal sacrifice has been admired by the nation as we found ourselves thrown into a pandemic, such an isolating and frightening time for so many. We know there are many challenging months still ahead, so International Nurses Day seems like a perfect time to celebrate our nurses, and say thank you!
Thank you in advance for your support of our nurses. Today, and every day, we recognise the vital work they do in our local community.
