Story
About Oasis Pantry
Oasis Pantry provides regular access to affordable food to those on low incomes, through two weekly food pantries. Our members sign up and pay a small weekly fee which gives them access to a wide range of surplus food, including chilled food, essential store cupboard items as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. Anyone living or working within a 15 minute radius of one of our pantries, and who is on a household income of less than £18,000 a year is welcome to join.
Our Impact
Oasis Pantry saves me a lot of money for a start. Staff are very friendly and can signpost us to other services for help. Without the Pantry I would struggle financially at the end of the month to be able to make decent enough food.
For many of our members, having regular access to affordable food frees up income to be spent on other essentials, such as heating and other utility bills. It also improves their diet and in turn their wellbeing and mental health. We are able to direct our members to relevant support and information from other agencies, as well as connecting them more directly through referrals or inviting agencies to attend our pantry sessions. They also have a safe place to come each week to get support, see a friendly face, and be part of a community that cares for them.
I get a lot of healthy food for very little money at the Pantry. Everyone's kind and supportive, it's a good environment, and a friendly atmosphere. If it wasn't open it would be far more difficult to feed myself healthily. I'd recommend it to anyone.
