Stokenchurch dog rescue was originally formed by local residents in 1963 to save the lives of stray and unwanted dogs. We never destroy a healthy dog, believing that somewhere there is a kind and permanent home for every dog. We also take in and care for the sick, the old and the traumatised.

Story

Another sad day in the life of the Rescue. Having had a wonderful day at the Sponsored Walk on Sunday, we were faced with the sad fact that there are awful people in this world. As you will see from the photos above, this is not going to be a nice story, far from it. This dog was found by walkers and bought in to us yesterday. She couldn’t walk or stand and so had been dumped and left to die, which she definitely would have had they not got her to safety. She is severely emaciated, has several wounds and is very poorly. Jess immediately took her to the vets. Jess said she found it so difficult leaving her as she was in so much pain and looked so sad. The vets have run preliminary checks and found she has an infection and hypothermia, it is likely she was out in the cold for some time. She may have other issues but for now due to her condition she cannot undergo too many tests. Once again our hearts are bigger than our resources! We have spoken with the Dog warden and she will come back into our care as soon as she is able to, but this means another chunk of money needs to be reallocated to her, rather than our regular dogs. We ask so much of all our supporters but are asking again, can you donate just the cost of your next coffee to help a little bit towards her care? We will not turn our backs on any dog in distress, each one deserves a chance. We have named her Ocean in the hope that she will one day paddle in the sea.

If we raise more than the vet bills we shall use the money for her ongoing treatment and for the care of any of our other dogs.
