Our Ocean Needs Your Support

Organised by Ocean Generation

Our Ocean is intrinsically connected to all life on earth. It is the life support system that we depend on for water, food and even the oxygen we breathe. Help safeguard it with us, for the benefit of all humanity.

We tackle Ocean threats by turning Ocean Science into understandable, practical tools; engaging people through film and popular culture; and running engagement programmes for youth. As the first generation to deeply understand Ocean issues, we’re also the last generation who can stop them.

Story

"As the first generation to deeply understand Ocean threats, we are also the last generation who can stop them."

Ocean Generation played a key role putting the plastic issue on the map. We are recognised as the first Ocean charity who ignited a wave of mass awareness about the issue of plastic polluting our Ocean. When we started out in 2009, no one was talking about it, no green groups, no teachers, no politicians. Our award-winning film documentary 'A Plastic Ocean' provided the facts and inspiration to motivate millions of people to take action.

With over a decade of experience in protecting our Oceans, we create documentaries, deploy educational resources and run on-the-ground engagement programmes for young people globally to safeguard the future of our Oceans. We collaborate with businesses and organisations to level up their sustainability practices and influence policy change, but we cant ensure this vital work continues without your support.

Every second breath we take is produced by the Ocean yet this most critical of life support systems is threatened by human actions every day.

41% of all people in the world today are 24 or younger. Thats over 3 billion young people who are going to have to live the rest of their lives with the consequences of todays environmental actions.

Ocean Generations Ocean Academy provides lesson plans for 5 to 11 year olds, enabling educators around the world to access free ready-to-run resources, facilitating Ocean action through core National Curriculum subjects like Maths.

To date we've directly reached over 560 teachers and 38,000 children in 6 countries, and have had our materials translated into 6 languages: Spanish, French, Chinese, Malay, Khmer, and Tamil. Through our partnerships, we have also indirectly reached:

- 8 million teaching professionals globally through Times Educational Supplement

- 638,798+ adult and youth Scouts members

- 1000+ schools through the Eco-Schools network in Northern Ireland

- 10,000 primary and secondary schools across Malaysia, through our partnership with the British High Commission in Malaysia for World Oceans Day

Our new Wavemaker programme is aimed at 16-25 year olds providing life skills in an Ocean context. It enables young people to consider a career choice related to the environment and provides access to resources for continued support.

With your support we can massively multiply the reach of our Ocean youth engagement programmes and influence the impact our young people have on the future health of our Ocean and our planet. With your help well be able to scale up our education resources, our workshops, our tool development and our digital outreach from thousands to millions of children.

We are all the Ocean Generation.
