On Wednesday 9th February, members of the Stonyhurst family will be participating in a non-stop sponsored 12-hour marathon reading of the newest and acclaimed English translation of Homer's 'Odyssey', by Emily Wilson.
This project, proposed by The Stonyhurst Classics and Philosophy Society, will involve up to 70 readers from the Stonyhurst community. The Society would like to raise £2,000 by the end of the reading. This equates to £100 for every year Odysseus was away from home; fighting in the trojan war or sailing from Island to Island on his many adventures. Any sponsorship or donation, no matter the size, would be gratefully received.
The money raised from this project will go to the St Aloysius Rhetoric 2022 Bursary. This bursary will support the funds needed to cover the boarding costs for a pupil's time at the College, allowing the bursary recipient to join the Stonyhurst family and benefit from a Stonyhurst education.
