Trolleybus Transformation

We're on a mission to restore a 1926 trolleybus that was built by Garrett's and went into service with Ipswich Corporation.

Inaugurated in 1984, The Long Shop Museum occupies some of the buildings of the original 19th century works site of Richard Garrett & Sons. The museum preserves the stories of the Suffolk communities that were changed by the agricultural and industrial revolutions.

Story

No 26 was one of the last trolleybuses in service with Ipswich Corporation as the town transitioned to diesel buses. No 26 found its way back to the Garrett factory after over 90 years, and we hope that it will be restored to its former glory in time for its 100th birthday, in 2026.
