Our history

Alhamdulillah the Forest Gate Central Masjid started back in 1991 opened its doors to the local worshippers with the first property @ 451 Romford Road since then it has been serving the local ummah with great eagerness and sincerity.

Over the years numbers 449, 447, 445 Romford Road were purchased and incorporated together. In 2003 a Primary School with Islamic and national curriculum with a special focus on Quran memorisation was introduced with a 100+ students currently enrolled.

The services currently being provided along with all masjid services are;

Ofsted Registered Primary School ( years 1 - 6 with Quran Memorisation )

100 plus children are currently enrolled to learn, practice and propagate the deen of Allah ( swt ) along with the National curriculum.

Evening Madrasah/Weekend Madrasah

250 plus children are learning quran and sunnah teachings to practise and propagate our beautiful religion of al islam.

8 year Alimah program for sisters/2 year sanatain course

100 plus daughters and sisters enrolled in this course with the first graduation taking place next year 2024.

Hifdh program

40 plus boys training to memorise the complete quran by heart.

Due to a growing community and the space within the four residential properties becoming very limited and restricted in 2015 the Masjid management committee decided after many consultations with worshippers, along with users of the facilities and the local community to appoint an architect in order to apply for planning to rebuild a fit for purpose building to serve the growing community. Alhamdulillah by the sheer mercy of Allah the planning was approved in 2019.

And thus began the journey to start fundraising in order to secure the planning and start the process of rebuilding the Forest Gate Central Masjid.

In January 2022 developers were appointed with the planning secured and the first phase of works which involves pre-construction & enabling works along with the demolition of 445 Romford Road are now complete. Our next phase is to build a temporary prayer space in the garden and do a full demolition of the remaining 3 buildings (447,449,451) in order to start the building of the new masjid.
