Registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation in January 2020. Our purpose is to mobilise our local community, through raising awareness of the climate change emergency and making sustainable living options accessible to all.
In the initial months since registering as a charity, Climate Action Strathaven has opened a community Eco Hub, opened a community bike repair shop jointly with the Town Mill, set up Scotland's first Karshare Car Club, launched e-bike rentals and an e-cargo bike courier service. We still have SO much to do...
Sustainable Strathaven - A Manifesto. We have ambitious plans for the provision of increased bus services and need your help to get the project up and running...
So far we have in place our Section 22 Community Bus Permit - the first step towards making Strathaven Community Buses a reality. Our next steps are to: hire buses and drivers, train community drivers and apply to register our routes with SPT!
The overwhelming feedback we have received from community members interested in this project is that the Strathaven to Glasgow service is the most urgent. With this in mind we plan to prioritise that route, prove that there is a demand and use this to secure further funding and expand the service.
So, we are asking you for your help... Can you make a donation today? However big or small - it will all help towards our ambition to reduce carbon emissions and help move more community members towards a sustainable way of living.
Thank you so much for your support - for more information on how you can get involved please pop into the Eco Hub at 5 Green Street, Strathaven.
You are bringing us closer to net zero emissions and a better future - thank you.
Should Climate Action Strathaven fail to meet the target, all funds received will be ring fenced for a Strathaven Community Bus service and used as match funding for future funding applications.
