In February 2024, 42 intrepid members of Girlguiding Southampton North will set out to challenge themselves on an epic adventure to our home in the mountains, Our Chalet. In order to get there we need to raise around £9000, a challenge in itself.

As part of our trip our young members will challenge themselves both physically and mentally as we undertake activities such as snowshoe hiking and cross-country skiing along with finding out more about world guiding and exploring their own role in the world.

Our girls are fundraising in lots of different ways including our travel challenge. Over the course of the summer we will aim to complete a virtual journey to Our Chalet, we will cycle the distance to Folkestone, swim a distance equivalent to crossing the channel and then walk, scoot, swim and cycle our way across France and into Switzerland. A mere 795 miles, going via Paris following the route we will take on our adventure!

We've started well, clocking up over 200 miles on our bikes and have now successfully swum the channel. A spectacular effort from 30 girls in the pool for only one hour! Now we have the long haul across the continent, just 570 miles! The girls have been working hard over the summer and have already recorded 546 miles, just 24 miles to go!
