Story
We have set up an appeal for funds to support the choirs to continue to provide excellent opportunities for our members in our 40th Anniversary year.
A generous donor has agreed to match all donations to the Appeal up to a maximum of £2,000. So for a limited period you can double your contribution, by giving what you can to support the choirs.
Oxford Youth Choirs was established 40 years ago as Oxford Girls’ Choir by Richard Vendome, the first choir of its kind in the U.K. We are now a thriving group of six choirs for children aged up to 19 from Oxford and surrounds. The choirs provide a welcoming atmosphere allowing children’s confidence to grow and their musicality to bloom. The choirs’ alumnae now number in their hundreds and many have gone on to musical careers or continue to pursue their love of singing alongside other endeavours.
Oxford Youth Choirs has not come out of the 2020-2022 period unscathed by the global Pandemic, and whilst we continue to operate the same groups as previously, we now have significantly fewer singers in the older age groups, which means our fee income has dropped substantially. Our costs have also increased over the last few years and we are asking for funds to enable us to broaden what we can offer to choir members in the coming years.
Please celebrate the choirs’ achievements by giving to our Matched Fundraising 40th Anniversary appeal
