Story
Parents 1st staff and volunteers will be coming together to walk 5K this September as part of the annual Fun Walk event run by The Fun Walk Trust. A bonus pot will top up any money we raise, helping us to boost our fundraising. Last year charities received an extra 40% of donations!
Your support can help us to continue to work with parents across Essex to provide 1:1 peer support, group support and offer a range of fitness sessions and first aid workshops to help parents feel prepared, supported and confident.
My peer supporter has been an absolute lifeline to me and no topics are off limits. It's so refreshing to be able to talk to someone about anything and everything. I don't want answers, I just need to feel normal.
Sponsor us today and help us to make a difference of a lifetime!
What do we do?
Parents 1st UK is a national charity that delivers peer support across Essex through our local programme - Parents 1st Essex.
Our dedicated volunteers and peer support workers are providing vital support to parents during pregnancy, birth and beyond. Their informal role is unique. They reach out to isolated and vulnerable parents in their communities and are by their side, even during labour and birth. They build trusting peer relationships and help parents cope with the inevitable changes that becoming a parent brings. Parents say they are a “lifeline”.
Peer support can help give parents hope, reassurance, and the confidence to give their babies the best possible start in life.
She has given me so much confidence, especially when I came home from hospital. She was so calm and reassured me. She will always go out of her way to find information for me or to help me make sense of information and make it relatable to me. Everything she does she always takes my mental health into consideration. It's been great to have her by my side.
