Palyul Centre UK Fundraiser for new Buddhist centre

Campaign by Palyul Centre UK

Palyul Centre UK is building a new centre to make the authentic Buddhist teachings accessible in the West. We are working to create a place where people from all backgrounds can come to study, contemplate, meditate, and share in community events.

Palyul Centre UK is a charity set up by HH Penor Rinpoche, the 3rd head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism and 11th holder of the Palyul lineage, to promote compassion and wisdom of Lord Buddha in the UK. The new site in Woolwich will provide a space for study, contemplation and meditation.

Story

We are so happy that the Palyul Centre UK has found a new home in Plumstead, transforming an old timber yard into a permanent centre for Tibetan Buddhist practice, meditation and community wellbeing – but we need your help to make this a reality.

The Palyul Centre UK was founded by His Holiness the 3rd Penor Rinpoche, whose vision was to bring Dharma to the West. Now we have a rare opportunity to bring that vision to life, by creating a lasting space where people from all backgrounds can come to study, contemplate, meditate, and share in community events.

In late 2025, we took a bold step and acquired the site in Plumstead – formerly used as a timber yard – which we are now transforming into a vibrant and inclusive centre.

The Palyul Centre UK is a charity that relies on donations and volunteer-led help. By supporting us you will help us renovate the building into a modern, welcoming temple and community space, that will provide:

Teachings rooted in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism

• A place where people of all ages and backgrounds can connect and learn

• A meditation hall with natural light

• Multi-purpose rooms for teachings, workshops, youth programmes, Tai Chi, and Yoga

• A building reflecting Buddhist values, built in a kinder, sustainable way for future generations

• A welcoming community hub for cultural events.

This is more than a building. It is a place where we can:

• Preserve the unbroken lineage of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism

• Provide ancient wisdom and learning to counterbalance the difficulties of modern life

• Offer wellbeing support to people of all cultures and backgrounds.

What We Are Raising

• We are seeking £300,000 to create a functional space for practice and community use

• £30k for architects, planning, legal work

• £75k for building materials

• £130k initial building works for contractors

• £35k accessibility and sustainability upgrades

• £30k fixtures, furnishings, and shrine elements.

In Buddhist tradition, generosity (dāna) is the foundation of all positive action. By supporting this project, you are helping to create a place where compassion, wisdom, and community can flourish for the benefit of all for generations to come.

Thank you so much for being part of this!
