Story
If you are considering making a charitable donation this year instead of sending Christmas cards to family and friends please consider supporting PAMIS. We support people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and their families and carers, towards more healthy included lives. We currently directly support around 700 families around Scotland and support many more through running accessible leisure events, training and friendship clubs.
We campaign tirelessly for more Changing Places toilets as this is still the main obstacle for our families getting out into their communities. No one should ever have to be changed on a public toilet floor. We are also working hard to provide accessible holiday accommodation for our families to have a well earned break and have opened a holiday house in Aberfeldy and a caravan at Haggerstone Holiday Park.
No donation is too small and ever penny counts.
PAMIS supports families and professionals in many ways- too many to mention here! If you would like to know more about us please visit our website at www.pamis.org.uk
This is what our families say about us-
Its great to have the opportunities that PAMIS bring to families. There has been nothing until PAMIS set up leisure activities.
My son started to take fits after his accident, I went along to the PAMIS Epilepsy workshop and spoke to all the professionals and experts. I watched a film and identified myself what fits my son was taking. I learned that I should time these fits and it is vital to call an ambulance, this information was used at a later date to save my sons life.
I initially contacted PAMIS to find out if my daughter could access the sensory library. To be honest I didnt expect to have much more contact from PAMIS (other agencies rarely contact with useful info) however I am delighted I made contact. The organised activities/workshops are fantastic.
In my opinion PAMIS are the best support group for disabled residents in South Lanarkshire
As a direct result of the information outlined in PAMIS SDS Information Pack my son has been successfully awarded assistance to pay for additional play groups, a science passport for the local Science Centre and we are awaiting a decision on assistance for him to attend a swimming club. None of the above would have happened without PAMIS SDS information pack. I am extremely grateful to PAMIS and the authors/contributors who developed the info pack
