I’m not sure if you remember but there was a campaign (below) for Panda last year.

We have now re-instated it as we have further information about her.

Poor Panda is VERY poorly, she had to have an emergency scan and a large number of blood tests a few days ago because she seems to have gained a huge amount of weight and is carrying a large amount of fluid. And we don’t know why.

We will update you once we have the results.

Panda looks so sad at the moment; she just isn’t herself.

She is normally a happy girl.

She had to be heavily sedated because she is absolutely terrible at going to the vets.

She is now taking painkillers.

So far, we have a cost of £323

(although the target reads £583 - £260 of that was raised in the original campaign. The target for this part of the campaign is £323 as stated.)

What a lovely girl. Her name is Panda.

Unfortunately, Panda came back to Amicii as her family lost their home.

She can be difficult at times but is making progress.

Panda really needs to be spayed.

We also think she may have a medical issue which needs investigating, the poor girl keeps getting UTIs (Urinary Tract Infection) which can cause terrible pain that makes the dog cry out or whine when urinating, theres also sometimes blood. Panda will need to have a blood test that can only be done whilst she is asleep.

On top of all that the poor girl cant lose weight.

We are asking for your help, to help Panda then she can look for her new forever family.

Panda has now been spayed and had her tests.

Her urine tests showed that she has a RARE bacteria causing her infection, she needs VERY STRONG antibiotics for 2 weeks followed by another test and possibly more antibiotics.

Once the infection has been sorted she will need her bloods retested as a few of her levels were showing as abnormal.

She will be retested for HYPOTHYROIDISM Under active thyroid condition, endocrine disorder in dogs. It causes the bodily functions to slow down. Clinical signs of the disorder include lethargy, weight gain and haircoat and skin changes.

CUSHING'S DISEASE a SERIOUS health condition that occurs when the adrenal glands over-produce cortisol (cortisone) in the dogs body. Excess cortisol can put a dog AT RISK of several serious conditions and illnesses from kidney damage to diabetes and can be LIFE-THREATENING

And ADDISON'S DISEASE which is caused by a deficiency of essential hormones that are made by the adrenal glands. OFTEN FATAL but with the correct treatment can be managed.

The poor girl has quite a journey before shes better!

We are predicting the cost of the drugs and tests to be around £200, making our target £560, of which we have raised £135, so we have a way to go.
