We are one of the largest Scout Groups in the UK offering weekly meetings for c 350 children aged 4-17 with a focus on the water. We also have an active Young Leader scheme and Duke of Edinburgh Award programme to allow our older Members to develop leadership skills.

Story

In August 2024, we spent a week volunteering at the Walk Academy in Nakuru, Kenya, a school that provides free education and two meals per day for the poorest children in the local area, whose parents scavenge at the local dump to make ends meet. Members of our new ASU are attempting to complete the Great River Race to raise much needed funds for the Walk Academy so that they can carry on their amazing work.

It costs approximately £200 per week to feed the circa 400 children twice daily, £35 for a new school desk and chair and just £15 for a full uniform (including shoes) for one of the children. Thank you in advance for supporting us to help the Walk Academy to transform these childrens lives with the gift of education, so that they hopefully dont have to tread the same path as their parents.
