Story
Pathway is the UK's leading homeless and inclusion health charity.
We are working with award-winning garden designers, Allon Hoskin and Robert Beaudin of Modular, to create The Pathway Garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025. Our garden is generously funded by Project Giving Back.
RHS Chelsea represents a huge opportunity for us as a charity to break into the mainstream and raise the profile of homelessness as a health issue.
People experiencing homelessness have some of the worst outcomes in society - and by almost every measure. People affected by homelessness die earlier than the rest of the population: the average age of death of someone experiencing homelessness in the UK is 45 for men and 43 for women. These people do not die from exposure, they die from treatable medical conditions and their deaths are preventable with the right access to healthcare.
It doesn't have to be this way. We believe that good health should be for everyone, regardless of circumstance. This is why we work with the NHS to improve the quality of and access to healthcare for people living on the street and in unsuitable accommodation.
In 2023, 1471 people died whilst homeless in the UK (source: Museum of Homelessness)
We need your help so we can use the RHS Chelsea platform to spread our message of homelessness as a health issue. We want to use this unique opportunity to highlight solutions to decision makers, systems leaders and the general public.
With your support we can make a difference
Our volunteers with their own personal experience of homelessness are working with our designers to create The Pathway Garden. Learn more about Pathway's Lived Experience Programme on our website and hear some of their stories in the film LESS? (below).
Your donation will help us make the most of this unique opportunity, which may include contributing to:
1 - Training and involvement of Pathway's Lived Experience Group
2 - Production of promotional materials and a dedicated event webpage on our website
3 - Event costs associated with Pathway presenting the garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show
4 - Relocation of the garden to Derriford Hospital in Devon, where it will be enjoyed for years to come by homeless patients of the Plymouth Pathway Team.
