The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a 100% not-for-profit half marathon, a closed road, Central London event. It is Team Paws2Rescue's first such event, and we are proudly taking part for our 10th Anniversary celebration year.

We are so excited to share that we have 5 fantastic supporters of Paws2Rescue who will be completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 7th April 2024. That’s 13.1 miles to help us raise funds for vital food, shelter, treatment and emergency medical care as well as preventative solutions such as our neutering campaigns and veterinary scholarships to ensure that there are social care vets and educating communities on animal welfare.

So, who are our 5 heroes supporting us?

Roxana: “I’m a resilient 38 year-old, from Romania. My life underwent a profound change at the age of 24 following a car crash in Italy that left me unable to walk. Despite the challenges, I've maintained a determined and positive outlook. As a para-athlete, I've participated in numerous international paracycling races spanning Europe and California US. However, my upcoming wheelchair marathon presents a significant personal challenge—it marks my first attempt. Registering for LLHM, I acknowledge that I haven't covered extensive distances with my manual wheelchair, but I approach it with hope and enthusiasm! My connection with Paws2Rescue dates back to 2018 when I joined a marathon in Bucharest. During that event, I received a donated wheelchair and an attachable handbike, which I used to complete the marathon. This experience holds deep meaning for me, accompanied by a compelling story. Participating in LLHM is an opportunity to support Paws2Rescue that I couldn't pass up; I love being there to lend a helping hand to both animals and people. Just as it seemed no coincidence back then when I ran in the Bucharest marathon, I believe that, next to helping Paws2Rescue, there's a purpose for my participation now—perhaps not visible at this moment, but carrying significant significance. Because in life, in my case at least, all happens for a reason."

Cefn O'Ryan: “I have volunteered for Paws2Rescue for a number of years and ran Paws2Rescue marathon in Bucharest in 2018 when I also met Roxana. Having spent time in the public shelters and fed the stray dogs, experiencing the sub zero temperatures in winter and the soaring summer heat, I can see how important the work that Paws2Rescue does, is for the dogs - when nobody else cares. The compassion and drive in the team shows through in the neutering, education and thousands of dogs lives saved and I am keen to run the LLHM 2024 as support runner for Roxana, to raise awareness to the plight of the abandoned and stray dogs, and the vital work that Paws2Rescue do.”

Vickie: “I’m a keen plodder and this will be my first half marathon. As a team member of the amazing Paws2Rescue and as an owner of one of our dogs, this charity is very close to my heart.”

Paul: "I once ran with Sir Mo Farah. Ok, so not actually with him as such, but in the same race, the Great North!! He won!! So as well as enjoying running I am also the proud “father” of a Paws2Rescue dog, Rolo. And, as my wife Vickie is a member of the Paws team, I often hear of the heartbreaking stories of suffering that these poor dogs have to endure in Romania. Running the LLHM is the least that I can do to help this amazing charity."

Ben: I’m Ben – my wife Lucy and I adopted Ralph from Paws2Rescue around 6 years ago and we’ve been close to the charity ever since. Ralph was quite a handful when he first arrived and the team at Paws2Rescue have given us fantastic support and advice over the years. Since Covid, I’ve been a keen runner and in 2023, I completed 12 half marathons in 12 months across the UK and Europe. I’m looking forward to running the London Landmarks Half Marathon alongside the other teammates to raise awareness and money for Paws2Rescue and also to thank the team for all of their support.”

Katie: “Like many, I started running during lockdown but have caught the bug ever since. The 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon will be my third organised event but probably the most special; running for a charity I feel so strongly about. Not only did Paws2Rescue bring me the light of my life, my Sid, but I am so proud of the work they do to help all dogs. I will be calling in every favour from family and friends to raise as much as I can by way of appreciation."
