Doing Good Through Food

We need your support to help us tackle poverty in Glasgow

The Courtyard Pantry Enterprise is an innovative food project which aims to tackle the harmful effects of poverty by creating well paid, secure jobs in hospitality and catering, by distributing good quality food at low cost, whilst reducing waste and minimising the impact on the environment.

Story

Founded in April 2022, our purpose is to reduce the effects of poverty in Glasgow, using food as a vehicle for change.

We aim to achieve this through the provision of good quality food at low cost to the local community at our food pantry and by creating secure, well-paid jobs and training opportunities at our food enterprises for those most at risk of long-term unemployment.

Our innovative and sustainable model seeks to address the root causes of poverty and help to ease the trauma caused by economic inactivity and lack of access to good quality food for local people and their families in Glasgow.

Our vision is to create a future where every person has access to sufficient resources and sustainable, affordable food, which improves their lives; a community where poverty no longer exists.

Good Food for All

The Courtyard Pantry Enterprise relieves financial hardship by providing food security to those who need it most through the operation of a food pantry and community hub, offering discounted goods, food and refreshments to the local community. As a vibrant local hub, our project seeks to improve connectivity across the community, reducing loneliness and isolation and to become a gateway to wider cost of living support and services.

Breaking Down Barriers to Employment

We create employment opportunities to help develop our project into a thriving, financially sustainable enterprise. We are guided in this effort by community wealth building principles whose objective is to create a more equitable community-based economy, through inclusive economic development.

We do this by creating fair and secure employment opportunities, specifically recruiting from lower income areas and/or from groups of people who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Environmental Sustainability

Our project aims to aid the development of the north of Glasgow to become an accessible, green space and contribute towards Glasgow City Council’s stated goal of becoming a carbon neutral city by 2030.

We need your support to help us continue our work in the community.
